Iraq Air Strikes Islamic State in Syria

The Iraqi Air Force recently carried out air strikes on IS in Syria. Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the ‘deadly raids’ in thier neighbouring state Syria.

The Prime Minster had odered air strikes against the jihadists “because of the dannger they pose to the Iraqi territory.”

The press statement released says

These raids demonstrate the growing capacity of our armed forces to hunt down and liquidate terrorists.”

Iraq Air Strikes IS Press Release

Iraq ha decleared it’s victory against IS in December, which launched a sweeping offensive in 2014 and at one point controlled a third of the country.

The jihadists still control pockets of desert along the border with Syria, where Iraq had already carried out limited raids against IS before today’s strike.
